Say Hello to Our New Car!!!

Blake totaled his Explorer in February 2009 and has been driving one of his parents’ cars ever since. I have been driving my Cougar since I turned 16, so we decided it was time for A NEW CAR!!!

June 19th, we bought a Ford Edge! This was our first big purchase together and I, of course, was freaking out! I loved the pampering from the salesman and getting to take the car around town for a few hours, but when it came to sitting down and crunching numbers, I got a little stressed! We actually got out of there pretty quickly!

Compared to my 10 year old little Cougar, this car is amazing! Who knew they had such amazing technology in cars now??? The car even came with a DVD player, so now I can drive around town listening to FRIENDS all the time (too bad my commute to work is only 3 minutes ;)!

HERE SHE IS!!!

Fort Worth Day with Mom!

June 13th – Mom and I went to Fort Worth for the day to eat at Joe T. Garcia’s and see Little House on the Prairie – The Musical! Joe T’s was absolutely delicious, we branched out (I usually only get the enchiladas or fajitas) and tried the Beef Fajita Taco Salad and it was fabulous!!!

Mom and I used to watch every episode of Little House on the Prairie when I was little and we saw that the musical was coming to town, so we had to go! After lunch we headed over to Bass Performance Hall! The musical was soooo good!!! We absolutely loved it! It was really neat because the mom in the musical was Melissa Gilbert, who was Laura in the TV series! She did great!!!

We finished up the day at The Import Store because we had to get some shopping in! This place was really interesting because it just had a ton of random items, so we found yummy smelling candles and cute jewelry! It was a wonderful day for just the two of us!!!

The 20th Annual North Texas Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure!!!

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure has always been a special event for me because Gammie has had breast cancer twice and I know so many amazing women who have been touched by this disease. I have always wanted to be more involved than just running/walking in the race, so this year I got MUCH more involved, and I had a blast!!!

I worked with one of my co-workers at Ericsson and we put together an Ericsson Race for the Cure team. We sponsored the starting line and hosted our own information booth for after the race! There was a lot of coordination, fund-raising, and foot work involved in getting participants, but in the end we had great Ericsson representation. We ended up with over 70 Ericsson participants who either walked or ran in the event and over 45 Ericsson volunteers who passed out water during the race and gave out give-aways at our booth. Also, we raised over $8000!!!

I met quite a few really great women within the SGK organization and I was so proud to have Ericsson involved in such a great cause! I cannot wait for next year’s event!

I also wanted to say THANK YOU to all of my friends who helped me raise money for the cause! You girls are amazing!!!

We sold pink ribbons during lunch to help raise money!!!
